1. Which two animals does Tao try to draw?
Horse and Ram
2. Which is easier for him and why?

That he thinks a lot about demons and spirits.Write your reaction to the last paragraph in the chapter. Do you agree or disagree with Graybeard? Is what he says true for those times, but not now? Or is the reverse true: is it true now, but wasn't true then?
I agree with Graybeard because if Tao is discovered painting on the cave walls while he is not the chosen one he will be badly punished his clan members say it is a taboo.I also do not agree because I think everyone should draw at their on will.At Tao's time it was not allowed to draw but know we could draw freely.
What situation did you imagine?
I imagined one where there was a poor boy who loved soccer but was not able to play that much because he was working most of the time to earn money for the family. So he had to forget his dream for soccer.
Why do you think Graybeard changed his mind?
I think he changed his mind because he saw that Tao was not going to give up on drawing and he thought that if he were to continue he ought to do it the right way.So he decided to show him also because he thought ''the shannon might be a fool.''
What does this tell you about his character?
He might be stubborn but when he sees that the person puts all his heart into his work it can really make a difference.
1. What are the "mountains-that-walk"?
The mountains-that-walk are mammoths.
2. What almost happened to Tao?
He almost got trampled, stomped on by a girl mammoth.
Do you think Graybeard is a good teacher? Why?
I think he is a good teacher because he did not give up on him like others would do.
Would you like to have been taught a skill by him? Why?
He is the type of teacher I like doesn't beat around the bush gets straight to the point.
1. Even if Ram had succeeded in hunting the deer, do you think it was a good idea of Tao's to "show off" his dog's ability to hunt? Explain.
No I don't think it was a good idea for him to show off because, one they could have surrounded them and taken them up to the mountains, two they could have gotten mad because Ram scattered deer to get only one.
2. Predict what will happen next. If you've read ahead, invent an alternate scene.
I think Tao will get in the river and duck
1. Why does Tao cross the river?
Tao crossed the river with Graybeard because they had to get to the Secret Cavern to paint Great Bulls.
2. What decision does Graybeard reach?
He makes the decision to let Tao paint in the Secret Cavern though he knows the Elder would not let Tao.
What problem does Tao have by the end of the chapter?
Tao got lost where the passageway divided, plus his lamp went out plus he heard a strange hissing sound.
Wow! What a chapter! What was your reaction? Tense? Surprised? You predicted it? Write a paragraph describing your reaction.
My reaction was very surprised I never expected to find out that Volt would end up being his father he always was very mean to him made Tao always seem like an outcast. For example he made Tao go look for the rabbit he lost always shouting at him never the love you would expect from a father.
Why does Tao feel he needs to go to the Mountain People?
Tao feels he needs to go to see the Mountain People because I think he wants to prove that he is a cave painter a good one. Becky
